SailGP has announced that GloboTV will be the global championship’s official broadcast partner in Brazil when the 2025 Season kicks off this month in Dubai.

Latin America’s largest communications company will cover all events in the 2025 season on Sportv, including live coverage of the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix (May 3-4, 2025) when Rio de Janeiro hosts the first-ever Brazilian SailGP event. As part of the agreement, in addition to showing all races, SailGP and Globo will work together to promote the championship and Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team across Globo’s range of media platforms, including news reports on TV Globo and Sportv, editorial and social media coverage, and on-air promotional spots.

SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson said: “We are delighted to announce SailGP’s new broadcast deal with GloboTV, one of the most prestigious media groups in the world. Brazil has long been an engaged market for the league, ranking among our highest in social media consumption. With a new team and home event, and now a major broadcast partnership, we look forward to bringing the most exciting racing on water to a new audience in this sport-loving nation.”

Director of Globo’s sports channels Eduardo Gabbay said: “Sportv is always looking for the best of the world’s sports to please fans across all types of competitions. SailGP is a success in several places around the world and has great growth potential in Brazil. We are immensely happy with this partnership.”

One of the world’s fastest-growing sports and entertainment properties, SailGP’s global reach and digital appeal has grown year over year since the league’s inception in 2019. In Season 4, SailGP’s dedicated broadcast audience increased by 48 percent to a record 193 million households across 212 international territories. The league has also made significant inroads in the U.S. market, including the highest broadcast audience for a sailing event in 30 years, with 1.78 million tuning into the Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía-Cadíz (Season 4) on CBS. SailGP will make further announcements for its 2025 Season broadcast lineup in the coming weeks.

Globo joins SailGP’s existing valued broadcast partner in BandSports, which has broadcast SailGP since Season 2 and will continue its live coverage for the Dubai event this coming weekend. These two broadcast partners give fans in Brazil unrivaled distribution of SailGP’s biggest and best season yet.

Following its landmark sale earlier this year, the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team will make its racing debut in Dubai this month, competing against 10 other national teams in identical high-tech, high-speed 50-foot foiling catamarans. The team has confirmed its full athlete lineup, led by two-time Olympic champion Martine Grael, the first-ever SailGP woman driver. Her brother, Olympian Marco Grael, will fill one of two grinder positions for the team, alongside Olympian, Pan American Games champion and windsurfing national champion Mateus Isaac.

The Brazilian team paid an undisclosed fee to the New Zealand Black Foils to secure the services of Andy Maloney to fill Brazil’s critical flight controller role, while British sailor Richard Mason joined as the strategist alongside fellow Brit Leigh McMillan, who joined the team as an experienced wing trimmer. Two-time Olympic champion Kahena Kunze, Martine’s Olympic sailing partner in 2016 and 2020, will be part of the team’s roster as a reserve.

SailGP’s 2025 Season begins with the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, presented by P&O Marinas, November 23-24, 2024. The league has confirmed its largest-ever F50 fleet of 11 national teams to be on the start line in Dubai, while the France SailGP team awaits the development of the league’s 12th F50 catamaran to be completed ahead of the second event of the season in Auckland. The Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team will be one of two new national teams on the start line alongside Italy.
