JULY 8, 2025, NEW YORK | SailGP has announced that the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix, which kicked off summer in New York last month on Governors Island, has officially become the most-attended U.S. SailGP event to date with a record 10,000-plus ticketed spectators across the weekend.

The New York race weekend (June 7-8) capped off a successful three-event SailGP series in the U.S., preceded by the Rolex Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix and the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix in March.

SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said: “SailGP’s three-event series in the U.S. was an astounding success, from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles to the epic racing on the windy shores of the San Francisco Bay and sold-out crowds in New York. SailGP continues to transform into a top global sports league in the world’s most competitive market by raising the bar each year. We hope American racing fans tune into CBS and CBS Sports Network to follow the remainder of our events this season as they unfold around the world.”

CBS Sports, the U.S. home for the global racing championship since 2019, drew more than 1 million dedicated viewers to its broadcasts across the three U.S. events this season, and will continue to broadcast the remainder of SailGP’s 2025 Season events as part of its record 54-hour broadcast agreement.

From the West Coast to the East Coast, SailGP’s three U.S. events drew 2.7 million social media engagements, 600,000+ hours of watched social content and more than 290 million views. Top performing content across the U.S. series of events included Chief Hype Officer DJ Khaled’s appearance in New York, the Australia SailGP Team’s wing collapse in San Francisco, and France SailGP Team’s triumphant return to the fleet with new investor Kylian Mbappe in Los Angeles.

Grammy-award winning artist DJ Khaled served as the global racing championship’s Chief Hype Officer for the U.S. swing of events, and attended the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix to sail an F50 catamaran and hype up thousands of fans in the grandstands prior to racing. Across the U.S. events, social posts featuring Khaled and Roc Nation Sports drove more than 33 million social media views and nearly 500,000 social media engagements.

SailGP has already confirmed it will return to New York for a fourth visit in the 2026 Season when the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix takes place, May 30-31, 2026.

Bringing a new era of high-speed, high-tech racing to iconic cities around the world, the Rolex SailGP Championship features 12 teams in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans racing faster than wind speeds over 60 miles (100km) per hour.

The Rolex SailGP Championship is now headed to Portsmouth, UK for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix on July 19 and 20, which can be viewed in the U.S. on July 20 on CBS at 2pm ET.
