New York Event Mark

Spain claim back-to-back event wins with defeat of New Zealand and France on New York Harbor.

Spain overcame tricky conditions and a competitive fleet to record their second successive event victory in the 2025 Season, winning the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix ahead of New Zealand and France.

The Spanish won the start and hit 72 km/h to just hold off the Kiwis with a slim three second lead at each gate, before screaming across the line in front of packed shoreside crowds on Governors Island.

New Zealand was left to cross in second, just short of repeating last season’s New York triumph, while France finished third for the second event in a row, marking back to back podiums for Quentin Delapierre’s squad.

It marks a second consecutive win for the Spanish, which triumphed in San Francisco, and means Diego Botin’s team takes the top spot on the 2025 Season leaderboard - pushing the BONDS Flying Roos into second place. An improved performance for the Kiwis in New York meanwhile sees them move into third overall.
